Look for changes you can see safely from the ground, and arrange an inspection when you have concerns. A mark alone does not establish hail damage or an insurance-covered loss.
Texas hailstorms can leave behind serious roof damage — even if leaks don’t show up right away. Some signs you can spot from the ground or a safe vantage point: Shingle bruising or missing granules; Dents in gutters, vents, or flashing; Asphalt granules collecting in downspouts; Impact marks on siding or windowsills; Neighbors getting roof replacements nearby. If your home was in the path of a hailstorm, it’s worth getting a professional inspection.
A roof inspection can identify visible conditions on accessible roof areas. Our trained technician inspects on the roof wherever conditions allow; if safety limits access, we document the limitation and may use aerial imagery. Photos record what was observed; they do not by themselves determine when damage happened, what caused it, or whether a claim is covered.
A ground-level view cannot show every roof condition. An inspection can document accessible conditions and assess whether they are consistent with a reported storm, but may not establish exactly when they began. Coverage depends on the policy and insurer’s review. Check your policy and contact your insurer promptly after a possible loss.

Before you decide
Central Texas UV, heat, thermal cycling, and hail shorten roofing life compared with manufacturer marketing ranges. Asphalt shingles have a broad 10–20-year range; product and installation affect where a roof falls within it. Standing-seam metal commonly lasts 40–70 years. Tile and slate can last 50+ years as materials, though the underlayment beneath tile needs replacement sooner. TPO membranes commonly last 20–30 years. Ventilation, installation quality, and maintenance affect the life a particular roof delivers. These are material ranges, not a diagnosis of an individual roof.
A thorough inspection includes examining shingles, flashing, ventilation, gutters, and checking for leaks or structural damage.
