If your roof was damaged in a hail or wind storm, the claim process can feel overwhelming. While we don’t file claims or speak to insurers on your behalf, we support you every step of the way after you file.
We’ve outlined a typical insurance process below — your carrier may vary, but most follow this basic order:
Your insurer’s Summary of Damages typically includes:
Zilker Roofing prepares a parallel estimate for your review — and documents any gaps or missing items.
Most Texas policies are RCV (Replacement Cost Value). That means the carrier:
We help make sure this second payment process is smooth and clearly documented.
A single hail claim won’t raise your premiums — Texas law bars rate increases for claims caused by weather (TDI Bill of Rights)
You are not required to get multiple quotes if working with a licensed contractor
Most claims are priced using Xactimate — a standardized estimating platform
We use that format when preparing our proposal, for easier comparison
EXCELLENT Based on 156 reviews Posted on Steve JohnsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. It was unclear whether my tile roof was eligible for insurance discount as a Class III roof (big price difference at least with State Farm). William Woods came out and pulled a tile then put his people to work tracking down the necessary info (they even filled out a State Farm form!). ALL THIS AT NO CHARGE.Posted on Alison PetermanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Zilker was amazing and I thank them for all of their help. We had a long process to get the insurance to approve replacing my hail damaged roof. With William's help, the process was successful and once approved the scheduling for the job was very quick. The roofing team was so well coordinated, you could tell that they were experienced and worked well together. My roof was replaced in one day and the guys stayed late to make sure all was cleaned up. The only suggestion I have for homeowners is to make sure all moveable items are removed from around the house; such as, potted plants.Posted on Jake TappanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. these guys had my roof done before lunch. very fast. I would highly recommend him and his team.Posted on J R (J)Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great customer service, great price and great turnaround time!Posted on Chad JewellTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Tyler at Zilker Roofing just knocked it out of the park on our roof replacement. He meet with the insurance adjuster to make sure every item was accounted for, worked with us to find the perfect color shingle and metal roof accent and made sure it was 100% right. He proactively called me to tell me the insurance company shorted us on their payment and made sure we got our full depreciation! So grateful for the excellent service and communication throughout the whole process.Posted on Katherine OldhamTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Zilker roofing was amazing! Kelly helped me out with the whole entire process. Insurance originally denied my claim, but Kelly was able to get it approved! Roof looks fantastic! Highly recommend to anyone in the Austin area!
We’re happy to review your documents, provide honest feedback, and make sure your home gets restored properly.
We recommend having us inspect your roof first. We’ll take photos and give you a clear explanation of what we see. You decide if a claim makes sense from there.
It’s the insurance company’s estimate. It lists every item they’re covering (roof, vents, gutters, etc.) and the dollar amounts. It’s also called a “Summary of Damages.” See: Understanding Your Summary of Damages
Yes. Texas law requires homeowners to pay their deductible directly. Contractors cannot cover it for you. If they do, your carrier may deny the entire claim.
We may be able to provide additional documentation (like photos, measurements, or damage notes) that support a supplement request. Ultimately, it’s your carrier’s decision.
